Is this considered a school?

No, Foundations is designed to enhance rather than replace your family’s home-education. We do, however, tend to offer classes that fit both the academic and extracurricular needs of our families.

Can I drop-off my kids?

No, a parent must remain on-site and be committed to serving our community. All classes are taught and assisted by parents.

What is a co-op?

A co-op is a community of like-minded people who are committed to each giving of their own unique talents and abilities to serve each other.

Who teaches the classes?

Our classes are parent-taught and are based on the unique giftings and experiences that each parent brings.

What classes do you offer?

Our class offerings change year-to-year as they are based on what parents are willing to teach and are selected through a voting system that our community participates in each spring.

How much does it cost?

We charge a Family Fee at the beginning of each year that covers the cost of the entire family for the entire year. We are a not-for-profit, and only charge enough to cover our expenses of rent for our facility and supplies needed for the year. Family fees are TBD and can be discussed during your membership interview.

Why do you need a background check with my application?

We run a background check on every adult (18+) set to participate in our co-op to ensure the safety of our community. If there is anything you wish to disclose to us prior to the background check, please reach out to our Registrar at [email protected].

Do visitors need a background check?

A one-time visiting family member or friend will not be background checked, but we do ask that they remain with the adult or child they are visiting at all times. A frequent visitor or substitute ‘parent’ will be subject to a background check.

I have a child who struggles (behavior, learning, medical, special needs, etc.), can you accommodate them?

We are aware of the significant population of students who are making valiant attempts despite considerable struggles. We desire to offer a discreet setting that provides grace in partnership with challenge.

It is the responsibility of the parent to take initiative with teachers to communicate your child’s unique needs. Teachers are not equipped to provide intense academic or behavioral support during class. If a child requires support, a parent or educational assistant must be present in each class to provide needed support. It is the responsibility of the parent to make arrangements for this classroom support. Please make the director aware if you are in need of further guidance.

Do you accept members after the school year has already started?

No. We do not allow new members to join after the school year has started. Any interested families are welcome to join our waitlist for the following year.
